Our Year 6 Quicksticks team came 4th in the inter-schools tournament on 11th October 2018. This was our first tournament of the year, so a great start for Blundeston!
Here is a match report by Ava-Rose Carter (Year 6):-
On Thursday 11th October, a team of Year 6 children represented Blundeston CEVC Primary School at a Quicksticks tournament at East Point Academy.
I really enjoyed the warm-ups we did with the different coaches! My personal favourite was when we dribbled the ball down the cones then passed to the person next to us. We then repeated this pass-follow technique and had a shot at the goal.
The coaches were lovely and got involved. The other team had lovely manners as my team and the opponents’ team were eager to give each other a proper handshake. We stayed on pitch 2 the whole day which saved the muddle of going from pitch to pitch. First, we played Corton and won 2-1. Next, we played Woods Loke and drew 2-2. Finally, we played Westwood and won 3-0.
Our referee was amazing. He got involved but he was fair (he made a little joke when the time was right). The student helpers were helpful too.
Back to the referee – during the first match I managed to trip over somebody’s stick and scrape skin off my thumb. The ref came over and made sure I was okay as well as the other team. Due to our previous scores, we had to play Roman Hill in the quarter finals and won 2-0. We then played the semi-final against Albert Pye and lost 1-3. Then we played Gunton in the third place play-off and lost 1-2.
Overall we came 4th out of 20 schools so we were happy with the final result. I will never forget that tournament!
